Teachable vs Teachery

Priced at four sizes on whatever each one charges by, the features checked against both pricing pages, and my own verdict on each.

Take Teachable if you want the least admin to get a course on sale and a mature platform with a large creator base. Take Teachery if you want paying yearly or once rather than per student, the least admin to get a course on sale and keeping every dollar of your sales. Teachable charges by products and Teachery by students, so there is no single crossover. At a typical setup Teachery is $49.83 a month cheaper ($39.17 at 500 students against $89 at 10 products).

What each one actually costs

The real monthly figure at four sizes with the add-ons each platform forces on you included, from the same engine the shortlist quiz uses. The cheaper of the two is marked on every row. Teachable charges by products and Teachery by students, so each column is priced at its own sizes, smallest to largest.

What is actually different

  • Teachable lists live events and cohorts and a mobile app where Teachery does not, which is their own wording rather than something we verified.

What I found

Condensed from my own reviews. Every line links to the second I said it, so you can check any of it. Prices in the table above are from this week; the videos are older and the figures in them are not.

Teachable

Teachable is a robust, affordable platform with good AI features that's really easy to get up and running for individual course creators.

  • It's really set up for individual course creators looking for an easy platform to get started with. 17:47
  • You can get started on the cheapest plan, which was the cheapest option I had covered at that point. 18:30
  • The AI generates course outlines for you, giving you the structure so you can then add videos and images. 21:29
  • On the cheapest plan you pay a transaction fee if you take payments through it. 18:22

Neither, or not sure?

A head to head only helps once you have picked the two. The shortlist asks 8 questions about what you sell and how many students you have, and gives you four picks priced at your own numbers, from all 19.
