Kahunas vs ABC Trainerize
Priced at four roster sizes, the features checked against both pricing pages, and my own verdict on each.
Take Kahunas if you want your own app in the stores and unlimited clients on a flat fee. Take ABC Trainerize if you want general online 1:1 coaching and a route up to gym or studio management. Kahunas is cheaper at every size we price.
What each one actually costs
The real monthly figure at four roster sizes with the add-ons each platform forces on you included, from the same engine the shortlist quiz uses. The cheaper of the two is marked on every row.
| Kahunas | ABC Trainerize | Difference | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 clients | $35 | $135 | $100 |
| 25 clients | $35 | $135 | $100 |
| 50 clients | $69 | $135 | $66 |
| 100 clients | $99 | $275 | $176 |
What is actually different
- Kahunas lists selling courses, group chat and progress photos where ABC Trainerize does not, which is their own wording rather than something we verified.
- ABC Trainerize does appointment booking, and Kahunas does not. We checked both against their pricing pages.
- ABC Trainerize lists intake forms, leaderboards, body metrics, video form checks and wearable syncing where Kahunas does not, which is their own wording rather than something we verified.

Kahunas
A clean, simple coaching platform with comprehensive features including built-in nutrition tracking, workout programs, and automation tools at reasonable pricing.
- Has one of the largest nutrition databases built in, so you don't need separate apps like MyFitnessPal or MacroFactor. 2:13
- Provides ready-made templates, questionnaires and forms so you don't have to build everything from scratch. 5:20
- Uses their own professional exercise videos rather than random YouTube clips with cheesy background music. 9:05
- Zapier and Make integrations are only available on the business tier, not the starter or pro plans. 13:39
- Voice notes are handy but if clients send them back you have to listen rather than read, which takes more time. 13:07

ABC Trainerize
A robust, feature-rich platform that I use personally as a client and my coach has stuck with for five years.
- Having training templates is really good if you're just getting started, plus the workout builder is helpful. 1:38
- It gives you exercise videos so you don't have to record them yourself. 1:45
- I actually really like this in the gym: I open the app, start my session, log my reps and weights, and see how I'm progressing each week. 7:03
- The messaging service is a little bit clunky, not that intuitive, and not like WhatsApp or iMessage. 4:56
- A little noisy when you sign in; I do think a lot of these apps are quite heavy on their data and dashboards. 4:28
- Getting this set up will take time because creating all the template programs is a bit time-consuming to start with. 6:36

Neither, or not sure?
A head to head only helps once you have picked the two. The shortlist asks 9 questions about your own roster and gives you four picks priced at your client count, from all 26.
