Kahunas vs TrueCoach

Priced at four roster sizes, the features checked against both pricing pages, and my own verdict on each.

Take Kahunas if you want your own app in the stores and unlimited clients on a flat fee. Take TrueCoach if you want general online 1:1 coaching and the fastest programme builder. Kahunas is cheaper at every size we price.

What each one actually costs

The real monthly figure at four roster sizes with the add-ons each platform forces on you included, from the same engine the shortlist quiz uses. The cheaper of the two is marked on every row.

KahunasTrueCoachDifference
10 clients$35$57.99$22.99
25 clients$35$136.99$101.99
50 clients$69$136.99$67.99
100 clients$99$136.99$37.99

What is actually different

  • Kahunas does client food logging, group programmes, your own app in the stores and sellable packages, and TrueCoach does not. We checked both against their pricing pages.
  • Kahunas lists client check-ins, selling courses and progress photos where TrueCoach does not, which is their own wording rather than something we verified.
  • TrueCoach lists body metrics, video form checks and wearable syncing where Kahunas does not, which is their own wording rather than something we verified.

I have used both

Kahunas

A clean, simple coaching platform with comprehensive features including built-in nutrition tracking, workout programs, and automation tools at reasonable pricing.

  • Has one of the largest nutrition databases built in, so you don't need separate apps like MyFitnessPal or MacroFactor. 2:13
  • Provides ready-made templates, questionnaires and forms so you don't have to build everything from scratch. 5:20
  • Uses their own professional exercise videos rather than random YouTube clips with cheesy background music. 9:05
  • Zapier and Make integrations are only available on the business tier, not the starter or pro plans. 13:39
  • Voice notes are handy but if clients send them back you have to listen rather than read, which takes more time. 13:07

TrueCoach

A robust system with good features for workout building, messaging and payments, though the dashboard can feel noisy and busy.

  • Workout builder lets you create training programs for online clients. 1:25
  • Access to over 1,200 exercise videos saves time if you haven't made your own. 1:32
  • Real-time messaging keeps client conversations on one platform instead of scattered across WhatsApp, email and Messenger. 1:43
  • The dashboard feed is noisy and confusing at first look. 4:22
  • The programming view shows a lot of information on one page, making it feel technical and busy. 6:21
  • No Zapier access, so you cannot connect it to other apps or automate workflows. 10:18

Neither, or not sure?

A head to head only helps once you have picked the two. The shortlist asks 9 questions about your own roster and gives you four picks priced at your client count, from all 26.
